How to avoid water leaking from your refrigerator
Frequently, encountering a pool of water (or a frozen sheet of ice) can be linked to condensation or an unnoticed spill. The typical location for water accumulation is often at the compartment's bottom, beneath such things as vegetable or crisper drawers. Leaks may also originate from areas outside the refrigerator, or there might be a leaking auto-fill water pitcher. Based on the source of the leak, we will guide you through the necessary steps to identify the cause and, ideally, prevent its recurrence.
Remove the water filter and inspect both the filter itself and the water filter housing for any signs of damage.
- If the water filter appears damaged or is not a genuine Samsung filter, replace it with a genuine Samsung water filter.
- In the case of damage to the water filter housing or if the leakage persists even with the filter removed, please visit our Support Center to request service.
If the leak reoccurs, replace the water filter with a genuine Samsung brand filter.

A refrigerator that is appropriately "leveled" may not be entirely level from front to back. Refrigerators are intentionally designed to have a slight backward tilt. This tilt assists the doors in self-closing and aids in drainage.
A simple method to assess the level is to inspect the space under the front of the refrigerator. If the wheels designed for moving the refrigerator are still in contact with the floor, it indicates that the front is not elevated enough. Refer to our guide on How to level the Samsung refrigerator, raise the front, and achieve the correct tilt.
The purpose of this step is to confirm the existence of a leak. Other potential causes could include:
- Condensation (for instance, if the fridge was recently powered off or experienced a power outage)
- A spill or leakage from one of the food items in the refrigerator
Note:
- In certain models, you have to check for a missing nozzle. The beverage center dispenser is expected to feature a downward-extending nozzle from the ceiling.
- If the leak returns, please call our contact center to get help about the issue. Our helpful agents will be there to help you.
If the leakage is occurring from a replaceable component outside the fridge, like the water line or its connecting elements, addressing this issue involves reinstalling the affected parts or, if necessary, replacing them. Consult your user manual for guidance on the installation process.

Take out the pitcher and wipe it dry with a towel. Additionally, have a towel or container ready to collect any water that drains during the next step.
Note: If your model is without a rubber drain cap, proceed to step 3.
Even if there is no visible water in the compartment, it is essential to drain any water present in the drainage area to restore the autofill function.
Note: Avoid placing your Auto Fill Pitcher in the dishwasher, as this can lead to warping and potential leakage. Always hand wash the pitcher using mild soap and water.
If you identify any damage to these components, it is necessary to replace them. Contact us to request service.
Ensure proper alignment of the pitcher's lid during assembly. Incorrect alignment may lead to water leakage. Additionally, for the Autofill function to operate, it's crucial that the pitcher and its lid are dry, as moisture detection can impede the filling process. Position the pour spout facing away from the handle, and ensure that the two-part lid is assembled to align the pieces securely and fit together properly.
There is a spring-loaded button situated behind the pitcher placement area. Press on the button to verify that it moves freely without sticking. It is essential for this button to maintain full contact with the pitcher when installed to enable the proper functioning of the auto-fill feature.
Should the pitcher persistently leak, especially when not in the fridge, it's advisable to replace it. Contact us to request service for a replacement.
