How to reset Samsung refrigerator?
While facing an issue with your refrigerator, the instinct to perform a reset might arise. Yet, it's crucial to note that we advise resetting your refrigerator only in specific troubleshooting scenarios. This guide will walk you through the steps for resetting your fridge, should you decide it's necessary, along with instructions for performing a network connection reset.
While it's generally not advised to reset your refrigerator, there is a straightforward method available if the need arises. Additionally, you have the option to reset the screen or perform a factory reset on your Family Hub fridge if required. Refer to the instructions below, based on your specific model and the type of reset you wish to carry out:
Reset your refrigerator: First, unplug it (or turn off the power at the circuit breaker), and then wait about five minutes for the electrical charge to clear out of it. Then, power it back on again.
Reset your Family Hub screen: If you need to reset the screen on your Family Hub refrigerator, you can use the red switch located inside the top of the right door.
Factory reset your Family Hub: Navigate to Settings, select About Family Hub, select Factory data reset, and then select RESET. Select RESET again when prompted, and then select Delete all data.
While resetting or unplugging your refrigerator is recommended in specific situations like troubleshooting, moving, or cleaning, there are important reasons to avoid unnecessary resets:
- Error Codes: These indicate potential issues that may require professional service. Document the codes before considering a reset.
- Cooling Off Mode: "OF OF" or "O FF" is not a cause for reset; simply turn off the Demo mode.
- Loss of Diagnostic Data: A reset erases error code history and diagnostic information, potentially complicating future repairs.
When is it appropriate to reset?
- During cleaning or relocation, as there are no existing issues.
- After specific error codes like 88 88, which may result from power outages.
In most cases, avoid resetting and opt for professional service. While temporarily inconvenient, it ensures proper diagnosis and resolution of the issue.
Note: This only applies to models with Wi-Fi capabilities.
You can perform a network reset on your refrigerator if you need to erase all Wi-Fi and network information. Simply touch and hold LOCK for about 12 seconds until “A” and “r” appear.
You can also perform a network reset on a Family Hub model. Navigate to Settings, select Wi-Fi, and then select your desired Wi-Fi address. Select Disconnect or Forget.
