Samsung washing machine common installation issues

Last Update date : 2023-04-10

Nowadays, the installation of washing machines is typically offered at little to no extra cost by shops, but if you're looking for a DIY job, you can always do it yourself. In either case, this article will cover the steps that must be taken during installation to avoid leaks, excessive vibration, and problems with spinning, draining, and filling.

How to install your Samsung washing machine

First unpack your washing machine, after removing the external packaging you will find the supplied accessories in a plastic bag inside the drum, the user manual will list all the accessories included for your washing machine model.

When installing your washing machine make sure it's in a suitable location.

  • The installation surface must be firm, dry, and level to minimize noise and vibration.
  • Do not install the washing machine in a location where the temperature may drop below freezing.
  • Install the washing machine away from direct sunlight and high humidity, and choose a location with good ventilation.
  • Install the washing machine away from appliances that emit heat such as ovens or boilers.

Remove the transit bolts fitted at the back of your washing machine.

For the position and the exact number of bolts refer to in the user manual, the transit bolts can be removed by using a spanner you should keep the transit bolts in a safe place in case you need to move the washing machine in the feature.

Once you take out the bolts there are plastic caps supplied to cover the transit bolt holes you can easily fit these by pushing them into place with your thumb.

Any time you install a washing machine, brand-new water supply hoses is a must. Using old hoses could lead to leaks, so you should eliminate them.

1 Connect one end of the hose to the cold water valve on the rear of the washing machine.
2 Connect the other end to the household cold water supply tap.
3 Turn on the water tap and check both connections for any water leaks.

Don't forget the drain hose! If you don't install the drain hose properly, it will result in no drain errors, water leaks, and even odor issues. There are two ways to install and position the washing machine's drain hose.

  • Over the edge of a wash basin: The drain hose must be placed at a height between 24 inches and 35 inches from the floor. To keep the drain hose's spout bent, use the supplied plastic hose guide. Secure the guide to the wall using a hook to ensure stable drainage.

  • In a standpipe, laundry tub, or utility sink: Standpipe must be no shorter than 39 inches and no higher than 96 inches from the floor. To keep the drain hose's spout bent, use the supplied plastic hose guide. Use zip ties to secure the drain hose to the tub or standpipe without kinking the hose. Heights will vary.
  • Connecting the drain pipe to the sink waste: ensure that the drain hose is routed upwards and the plastic hose guides secured higher than the bottom of the sink to prevent dirty water from the sink from ending up in the washing machine.

Once connected check the drain for leaks during the first wash.

To ensure minimum noise, vibration, and unbalanced loads, your washing machine needs to be stable and level with feet locked in position.

  1. Gently slide the washing machine into position. Excessive force may damage the leveling feet. Level the washing machine by manually adjusting the leveling feet.
  2. When leveling is complete, tighten the nuts using the spanner.

You should use Calibration mode right after your washer is installed, any time you make adjustments to your washing machine, and if you ever feel like the weight detection (and amount of water per cycle) isn't right. It only takes a few minutes, and it never hurts to do it periodically. Just make sure you've got your washing machine right where you want it first and that it's nice and secure before calibrating it.

  1. First, make sure your washing machine is empty.

  2. Touch and hold Temp. and Delay End simultaneously for 3 seconds until Cb appears on the display. Please see your user manual if your washing machine does not have this button combination.

  3. Then, touch Start/Pause to start Calibration mode. The tub will begin rotating back and forth for 3 minutes. Once the display shows EnEnd, or 0, you can turn off the washing machine.
