Does the Galaxy Watch Ultra support water and dust resistance?
Discover the Galaxy Watch series, engineered for durability with IP68 and 10ATM ratings. Perfect for daily use and light swimming, these watches are resistant to dust and water, ensuring reliability in various environments. Ideal for activities like exercising, rain, or occasional swimming, they require minimal maintenance to preserve their water resistance. Just rinse after use in chlorinated or saltwater to keep them in prime condition. However, they are not suitable for deep-sea diving or high-pressure water activities.
Watch Ultra is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance and is also rated 10ATM for water pressure.
The device is water and dust resistant, and meets the following international standards:
- 10ATM water resistance classification certification: Was tested by submerging the device in fresh water, applying pressure equivalent to 100 m and leaving it still without any movement for 10 minutes, to meet the requirements of ISO 22810:2010.
- IPX8 water resistance classification certification: Was tested by submerging the device in 1.5 m of fresh water for 30 minutes, leaving it still, without any movement, to meet the requirements of IEC 60529.
- IP6X dust resistance classification certification: Was tested to meet the requirements of IEC 60529.
- The device is not intended for divers.
- You can use this device when you are exercising, washing your hands or on a rainy day.
- You can use this device when you are swimming in a pool or the sea where the water level is not deep.
- The water resistance of your Galaxy device is not permanent and may diminish over time. It is recommended to have your Galaxy device’s water resistance tested once a year at a Samsung Service Centre or an authorized service center.
You must follow these guidelines to maintain the water and dust resistance of your device:
After swimming in a pool or sea, rinse the device with fresh water before the pool or seawater dries. Dry it thoroughly with a soft, clean cloth. Disinfectants in pool water and salt in seawater can affect water resistance.
If the device gets wet with anything other than fresh water (like coffee, drinks, soapy water, oil, perfume, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, or chemicals from cosmetics), rinse it with fresh water and dry it thoroughly with a soft, clean cloth.
Avoid activities like freediving, scuba diving, or fast-moving water sports (e.g., jet skiing), and don't swim in fast-moving water like rivers while wearing your device. Also, avoid exposing it to high-pressure cleaning machines. High water pressure can damage the water resistance.
If the device is hit or damaged, its water and dust resistance might be compromised.
Don’t disassemble your device without proper guidance.
Don’t dry your device with a hot air machine like a hair dryer or use it in hot environments like saunas. Extreme temperature changes can damage its water resistance.
