Email server not responding on Samsung phone or tablet.
Encountering a message on your phone that says "Cannot Connect to Server" while attempting to access your email could be attributed to a range of factors, including issues with your email account, network connection, or the email provider's server.
Troubleshooting Tips for Fixing Email Server Connection Issues on Samsung Devices
If you're able to sign in and access your email on a PC, it's possible that your phone's lack of connectivity to Wi-Fi or mobile data could be the issue.
Ensure that your phone is connected to either Wi-Fi or mobile data. You can do this by swiping down from the top of your phone's screen to access the Quick settings panel, then long-pressing the Wi-Fi icon to verify your connection. Additionally, you can go to the Settings menu, select "Connections," and tap on "Wi-Fi." To confirm that your internet connection is functional, attempt to load a webpage or perform a quick search.
In the event that your email provider has made changes to their server, it might be necessary to delete and subsequently re-add your account to update the configuration. Prior to doing so, ensure that you have your email account's username and password readily available. It's important to note that passwords are case-sensitive, and an incorrect entry will result in your phone being unable to establish a connection to the email server.
You can clear the app’s cache by navigating to Settings and then tapping Apps. Select the email app, and then tap Storage. Tap Clear cache.
To clear the app's data, navigate to Settings and then tap Apps. Select the email app, and then tap Storage. Tap Clear data, and then tap OK. This will completely wipe the app and reset it to the original settings.
Using Safe mode will help you figure out if the email app is causing issues with your phone. Press and hold the Power key or Side key. On phones without a dedicated Power key, you can swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick settings, and then tap the Power icon.
Then, touch and hold the Power off icon. Tap Safe mode when it appears. Your phone will restart and “Safe mode” will be displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen. Check if your email app is still causing issues on your phone. You can also remove it if needed. Restart your phone to exit Safe mode.
If you are still encountering issues, contact your email service provider.
