Galaxy Tab S9 FE: DeX Features and Enhancements
Samsung offers many applications to make your workday easier. One of them is Samsung DeX, which gives users the experience of working on a desktop by connecting their mobile device (a smartphone or tablet) to an external display device (a TV or monitor) or a PC.
Tab S9 FE series does not support DisplayPort Out, and therefore, it does not support wired or wireless DeX. However, you can utilize the standalone DeX mode found in Settings > Connected devices > Samsung DeX for an enhanced tablet experience when using a keyboard and mouse with the Book Cover keyboard connected.
There is no specific limit to the number of windows that can be opened on Samsung DeX. However, when running multiple tasks and apps, it can display a maximum of 20 apps on the DeX screen simultaneously. If there are more than 20 running apps, they are automatically minimized in order. Additionally, it's important to note that generally, only one window can be opened for each app. Yet, certain apps, such as My Files, Internet, and Email (including the Email writing window), may allow up to five windows to be opened.
You can use Samsung DeX on a tablet screen (please note that this feature is not supported on phones). Samsung DeX can be launched directly on a tablet screen without the need for an additional monitor. To enable this feature, you'll need to connect an exclusive keyboard cover to the device. Once the keyboard cover is connected, you can use Samsung DeX on the tablet screen. However, even after the initial connection, you can continue to use Samsung DeX on the tablet screen without the need for an exclusive keyboard cover.
To access this feature, go to Settings > Connected Devices > Samsung DeX.
With the introduction of One UI 6.0, the Samsung DeX user interface offers a more unified appearance and user experience that closely aligns with the normal mode. This means you can seamlessly transition your DeX experience to the tablet's home screen while in use. In New DeX mode, all your apps, widgets, icons, and home screen features are readily accessible. Additionally, New DeX can be experienced in both landscape and portrait orientations when the tablet's auto-rotate feature is enabled.
