Samsung SmartTag error codes

Your valuables can be fitted with SmartTags so that you can quickly locate them when you need them most. SmartTags are able to communicate with your Galaxy tablet or smartphone.

You can still find your SmartTag using offline finding in "SmartThings Find" if it is outside of this range. When registering and connecting a SmartTag, it can be frightening to see a string of numbers or letters, but don't be alarmed—these are only error codes. We'll help you understand the code and make sure your Smart Tag is correctly attached.

Failure during get location list from SmartTag Server

It can be temporary server error or network error , so try again

05-300

Device is not discovered during 5min when onboarding starts from Catalog. Most of this case, wrong Category of device is selected by user or device is not discovery mode

You should select correct device category ( By using QR Scanning proper category can be selected )

How to make device to discovery mode

- OOBE : Pressing center button make device to discoverable

- Used case : Resetting device make to discoverable

- ETC : Check battery status

Connection failure occurs between device and mobile, or error happens during read/write information from device 

Move closer devices between mobile phones.

If error keep happening , then reset device and try again

Send the error report with QR code image & mobile log on the SmartThings App.

(For only 04-201) If this error keeps happening, it’s needed to check if the device has a defect or not.

81-001

Pre-information of device is not registered on server

If this error keeps happening, then get a photo of QR code printed on the rear side of the package and escalate to HQ. This can be checked only in server side

84-002

85-300

Temporary server error

Check Mobile network status or restart app and try again

08-200

14-005

User confirmation timeout

During onboarding, the user needs to press the center button of the device. If user don’t press button within 2min this error occurs

User needs to press device center button in time

If this error keeps happening, it’s needed to check if the device has a defect or not.

85-001

Error during register device to server

If this error keeps happening, then get a mobile log with the serial of device and user email address. This can be checked only in server side

Failure to write server information to device

Move closer devices between mobile phones.

If error keep happening , then reset device and try again

If there remain device card in dashboard delete device card and then try again

Timeout during read/write data to device

Move closer devices between mobile phones.

Restarting mobile or resetting device and then retry
