How can a Samsung TV be used as a monitor?
As time goes by, the functions that can be performed on your TV are becoming increasingly advanced. The TV itself supports many features, and if your personal computer can be used with your TV, the possibilities of what you can do will be more extensive.
In addition to PC remote access and PC mirroring, you can access Microsoft 365 directly and access documents on your TV. Check out the features available with the Workspace function on your TV from 2022 onwards.
Note:
- A TV and PC must be connected to a network.
- Depending on the network environment, including the firewall configuration, router type, and wireless signal strength, connection problems may occur, such as low speed, disconnection, or limited connection.
- Manual connection is only supported for Windows 10 Professional or higher and Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
- The Easy Connection to Screen app is available on Windows 10 or higher.
4 main uses with the Workspace function
Easy Connection allows you to remotely control your PC through an app. Screen sharing allows you to mirror a PC that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Samsung DeX allows you to use your mobile device as a PC on the TV. And Microsoft 365 can be accessed directly using the TV web browser.
Note: For models prior to 2022, Workspace is unavailable. Though you can head to:
- 2021 model TVs: Source > PC on TV
- 2018 - 2020 model TVs: Source > Remote Access
One end is going to have to be HDMI to plug into the HDMI port on the TV. The other end will need to be specific to your computer.
- Note: The step below is taken from a 2023 model TV. Steps and layouts may vary depending on the model of your TV.

- If your TV doesn't recognise the HDMI input from your computer, try another HDMI port on your TV or another HDMI cable.
- You can also use HDMI Troubleshooting to check the connection between your HDMI cable and the external device via Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > HDMI Troubleshooting
The Easy Connection to Screen app allows you to control your PC from your smart TV. First, install the app on your PC, and then log in with your Samsung account. Make sure your keyboard and mouse are connected to the TV, and follow the detailed guide on how to access your PC from the TV.

- If you can't find your PC on the TV Home screen, make sure the PC is turned on and connected to the network. The PC's sleep mode should be turned off.

Samsung TVs come equipped with Wi-Fi Direct, which facilitates seamless screen sharing between TVs and PCs. To share your PC's screen on your TV, or vice versa, use the on-screen instructions to adjust your settings and connect a computer to your TV using Wi-Fi.

- Screen Sharing is only supported by Window 10 Professional or higher version.
- There is no resolution limit, since the PC screen is captured in real time, and re-encoded the TV supports.
You can use your mobile as a PC with Samsung DeX on your big screen. Galaxy devices provide wireless DeX which connects your mobile device to a Smart TV through Wi-Fi. And you can pull up Samsung Dex anytime you want.
2. As directed by the on-screen guide, swipe down from the top of your phone screen to access the notifications bar, then tap the DeX button.
3. Choose a TV to connect to.
4. Tap the Start now button.
The connection with your phone is saved on your TV and you can begin using Samsung DeX immediately.

- Make sure that your Galaxy device supports connecting wirelessly with Samsung DeX via Wi-Fi.
- The connection with your phone is saved on your TV.
You can access Microsoft 365 through the Workspace function to edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. There is no OS limit as this function is based on cloud services when used on a web browser on a TV.
