Can I Convert My VHS Tapes to DVD?

The information in this article applies to VCR-DVD recorder combo units only, including the DVD-VR320 and DVD-VR325. If your combo's model number does not contain the letter R, then it is a DVD player and not a DVD recorder, and thus cannot copy a VHS tape to DVD.

As long as the material on the tapes is not copy-protected, you can record VHS onto DVD.

To copy a non-protected VHS tape to DVD using a separate VCR and DVD Recorder:

Connect the VCR to the DVD recorder using either the coaxial, composite (red, white, and yellow) or S-Video cables.

Insert a recordable disc.

Press the Input button to select the input source according to the connection you made (Channel , AV1, AV2, or S-Video), and record as usual.

To copy a non-protected VHS tape to DVD with the DVD-VR320/325 using a copylist:

With the DVD recorder stopped, press the [MENU] button.

With the arrow buttons, select Copy and press [ENTER].

Select VCR -> DVD and press [ENTER].

Rewind or fast-forward the tape to the desired starting position. Once the tape is cued up, press [ENTER].

Rewind or fast-forward the tape to the desired ending position. Once the tape is cued up, press [ENTER].

Repeat steps 4 and 5 to create multiple entries in the copylist.

Select the desired copylist and press [ENTER].

Select Copy and press [ENTER].

The VCR will wind the tape to the start position and then begin copying. It may not match up exactly with the Start and End points.

if you want to copy all content, select Copy All.

To directly copy a non-protected VHS tape to DVD with the DVD-VR320/325:

Insert the source VHS tape and a destination recordable DVD disc.

Press the [DVD Copy] button on the front panel, or the [TO DVD] button on the remote control.

To stop recording, press the [STOP] button
