BLOOD PRESSURE
Take your blood pressure with your Galaxy Watch
Stay on top of your blood pressure with the Samsung Health Monitor app. With the internal Photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor inside your Galaxy Watch, the Samsung Health Monitor Blood Pressure feature measures your systolic and diastolic pressure as well as your pulse rate. The Samsung Health Monitor app is available on the Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Watch Active 2, and will be available on later models.
*Blood pressure feature only to be used by adults 22 years and older. Intended for general wellness and fitness purposes only. Not intended for use in detection, monitoring, diagnosis, treatment of any medical condition or disease. The measurements are for your personal reference only. Please consult a medical professional for advice. For accurate BP readings, a calibration is required every 4 weeks by BP monitor & arm cuff. Requires a Galaxy smartphone running Android 9 or above.

Galaxy Watch
Taking measurements after preparation
After you have calibrated your Galaxy Watch with an upper-arm, cuff-based blood pressure monitor that is TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) approved, you're ready to use the Samsung Health Monitor on your Galaxy Watch to measure your blood pressure. You won't need to use the cuff-based monitor again until the next calibration in 28 days.
1) Wear your Galaxy Watch on the same wrist as during the calibration and make sure the Galaxy Watch strap is snug around your wrist, but not too tight.
2) 30 minutes before doing the measurement, do not have any alcohol or caffeine, and do not smoke, exercise, or bathe.

measurements
On your Galaxy Watch
After Samsung Health Monitor on the Galaxy Watch successfully measures your blood pressure, the Galaxy Watch and the Galaxy smartphone display the following results:
· Systolic blood pressure (BP)
· Diastolic blood pressure (BP)
· Pulse (heart rate)
Do not change your medications or dosage based on these numbers. Always talk to your doctor first.
· Systolic: 70-180
· Diastolic: 40-120
On your Galaxy smartphone
When a Bluetooth connection is established between your Galaxy Watch and the Galaxy smartphone you used to calibrate the Galaxy Watch, your measurement results are synced to the Samsung Health Monitor app on the Galaxy smartphone. You can share this information with your doctor for review or consultation.

ECG
Take an Electrocardiogram
with your Galaxy
Watch
Electrocardiogram(ECG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart and the information is recorded on a graph. ECG is currently the best way to detect irregular rhythms. The Samsung Health Monitor ECG app detects ECG signals (similar to a Lead I ECG) with the help of your Galaxy Watch's ECG sensor and determines whether atrial fibrillation or normal sinus rhythm is present. Samsung Health Monitor ECG app creates, records, saves, and exports ECG data.
*The ECG feature is intended to create, record, store, transfer, and display a single channel electrocardiogram (ECG), similar to a Lead I ECG for adults 22 years and older. The ECG feature is not intended to replace traditional methods of diagnosis or treatment. The ECG feature is not intended for users with other known arrhythmias. If an irregular heartbeat or atrial fibrillation is detected, consult a doctor. If you experience symptoms of a heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular conditions, do not rely on the notification of the device and consult a doctor. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE. IF SYMPTOMS PERSIST, WORSEN OR CHANGE UNEXPECTEDLY, TALK TO YOUR HEALTH PROFESSIONAL.

2. Precautions before use
1) Wear the Galaxy Watch snugly on your wrist.
2) Make sure that your wrist (the skin area that comes in contact with the watch sensor) is not too dry.
3) Avoid hard exercise from 5 minutes before the measurement.
4) Take measurements sitting in a chair with your back properly supported and with hands and arms resting comfortably on the table.
5) Do not move your arms and fingers or speak during the measurement.
3. Recording an ECG using your Galaxy Watch
1) Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy Watch.
2) Make sure the Galaxy Watch is snug on your wrist.
3) Rest your forearms comfortably on a table and then rest a fingertip of the opposite hand lightly on the Galaxy Watch’s top button for 30 seconds. Remain still and do not talk while the Galaxy Watch takes the measurement. When the recording process has finished, the ECG results will appear on your watch. Note: Don't press the top button during recording; pressing the top button during recording will stop the recording.
4) Scroll up and down to see your ECG result. If you are experiencing symptoms, tap Add and on the Symptoms screen, scroll through the list and tap each symptom you are experiencing. Then tap Save to add the symptoms to your ECG report and to return to the Results screen.
5) Tap Done to go back to the Start screen. You can review your ECG report in the ECG Monitor app on your phone. (Note that syncing requires that the watch and phone are paired using Bluetooth.)

4. Reviewing your ECG reports on your Galaxy
After you take an ECG, the ECG data is synced to the paired Galaxy smartphone where a PDF report is created.
1. Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy smartphone.
2. Tap the thumbnail to see your latest ECG report, or tap View history to see all the available reports.
You may get any of the four following results:
1) Sinus Rhythm—This result means that during the recording the heart was beating in a regular rhythm with a heart rate of 50–100 beats per minute (BPM).
· Caution: A Sinus Rhythm result does not guarantee that you are not experiencing an arrhythmia or other health condition. If you are not feeling well, contact your doctor.
2) Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)—This result means that during the recording the heart was beating in an irregular rhythm with a heart rate of 50–120 BPM. If you get this result, contact your doctor for guidance.
3) Inconclusive—This result means that the ECG recording could not be classified because the heart rate was either too high or too low, or the rhythm was not Atrial Fibrillation or Sinus Rhythm. If you get this result repeatedly, contact your doctor.
Conditions that lead to an Inconclusive result
· The heart rate during the recording was less than 50 BPM (low heart rate*), or
· the heart rate was greater than 100 BPM (high heart rate**) and rhythm was not Atrial Fibrillation, or
· the heart rhythm was not Sinus or Atrial Fibrillation, or
· the heart rhythm was Atrial Fibrillation and the heart rate was greater than 120 BPM
*A low heart rate can be normal, such as in well-trained athletes. It can also be caused by certain medications or conditions associated with abnormal electrical activity within the heart.
**A high heart rate can be normal, such as during exercise or emotional stress. It can also be a response to dehydration, fever, infection or other conditions including atrial fibrillation or other arrhythmia.
4) Poor Recording—This result means the ECG App was not able to analyse the data. A poor recording usually happens because your body moved during recording or the Galaxy Watch did not have enough skin contact with your wrist or finger. If you get this result repeatedly, refer to “Recording an ECG Using Your Galaxy Watch,” above
