1. New Camera settings & widgets personalisation
The updated Camera app in One UI 6 offers you more streamlined settings making it more intuitive. You also now have the ability to add custom Camera widgets to your Home screen, with each widget set to start in your favourite shooting modes.
How do I do that?
1. Press and hold Home screen
2. Tap on Widgets
3. Select Camera and customise preferred settings
4. Tap on Save
2. Enhanced Document & Text Scanning
Need to scan a document but you don’t have access to a scanner? Fret not, because the One UI 6 update now allows you to conveniently scan documents wherever, whenever! The updated Scan Document feature is now independent from the Scene Optimizer, which means, now, you simply have to take a photo of the document and the Auto Scan function intelligently recognises it as a document, taking you to an edit screen where you can make necessary adjustments.
How do I do that?
1. Turn on your Camera
2. Tap on Camera Settings
3. Tap toggles to turn on Scan documents and text
4. Click on Scan documents and text, then activate Auto scan and Remove unwanted objects
3. Quick edits in Gallery
The Gallery app now allows for quicker photo and video edits. Found the perfect edit settings for your image and want to do the same for all your other pictures or videos? Just copy the edits and paste it on the rest of your pictures. Editing for your socials just got a lot faster!
How do I do that?
1. Tap on Gallery and select picture to edit
2. Tap on Edit and edit your image to your preference
3. Tap on Save once edits are done
4. Once saved, tap on More (three dots) and select Copy edits
5. Select photos you want to copy the edits to, tap on More and select Paste edits
4. Faster photo-taking
You now have greater control on how you capture moments with the three levels of photo quality optimization! For those of you who are keen on getting as many photos of your favourite celebs or idols, you can choose the Minimum setting to take pictures quickly.
How do I do that?
1. Tap on Camera and go to Camera settings
2. Tap on Advanced intelligence options
3. Choose your preferred setting
Additional tip: Opt for Medium to get the best balance of speed and quality when taking photos.
5. Studio for advanced video editing
Video editing just got more advanced with One UI 6! Studio, formerly known as Video Editor, offers comprehensive tools to take your video-editing to an almost professional-grade level. Operating as a project-based video editor, you can now edit and save unfinished projects to continue editing later, or even work with multiple video clips at the same time. Creating those holiday reels just got loads easier!
How do I do that?
1. Tap on Gallery
2. Tap on the three horizontal lines on bottom of screen and select Go to studio
3. Tap on Start new project and select photos and videos you want to use
4. Edit according to your preferences and tap Save movie
6. Edit icons on quick panel
Want an even more efficient experience from your new quick panel? Then why not personalise and edit the icons featured on the quick panel? You can even feature the same full-coloured icons that are on each app. This means you won’t have to scan through generic icons anymore, making it faster for you to locate the apps you need!
How do I do that?
1. Pull down Quick Panel and tap on Edit on the top of screen
2. Customise icons according to your preferences and tap Done
7. New Lock screen customisations
You’d probably already know that you can customise your clock styles and positions for your Lock screen, but with One UI 6, you now have even more control because you can reposition it, just about anywhere!
How do I do that?
1. Tap and hold Lock screen
2. Customise clock to your preference and tap Save
8. Auto Blocker for enhanced security
Have you ever been in the situation where you stumble upon an app which seems useful, but is from an unfamiliar source? With One UI 6’s Auto Blocker enabled, your device will prevent unknown apps from being installed, check for malware and block malicious commands from being sent to your phone using a USB cable.
How do I do that?
1. Tap on Settings and select Security and privacy
2. Tap on Auto Blocker and turn toggle On
9. Unified Trash for easier device upkeep
All your Trash is now accessible from one location – Trash in My Files! Whether it was that deleted audio recording of you singing, videos that are taking up too much space on your device, or pictures you no longer require, you can now delete everything from one location.
How do I do that?
1. Tap on My Files and choose Recycle Bin
2. Select photos, videos, GIFS, etc., and Delete
10. Improved smart select and text extraction
With One UI 6, text selection and extraction now offers more flexibility and precision. You can pin an image to your screen, resize it and easily extract text from it! You also won’t have to squint your eyes to read the text, because there is a new magnified view included, so you can pinpoint and extract the exact text you need!
But first, let’s set the Smart Select feature on your Edge Panel.
How do I do that?
1. Swipe your edge panel to use Smart select panel and select Rectangle
2. Move the selection box and magnified view to the area you would like to extract
3. Tap Done and you can also pin the image you’ve extracted to your Home screen if you’d like
4. You are able to extract text from your pinned content by tapping it and selecting the text extraction icon
5. Tap Copy and paste it accordingly in your search bar, Notes, social media channels, etc.
Now, let’s use the Smart Select feature to extract text for your convenience.
How do I do that?
1. Go to Gallery and select image with the text you want to extract
2. Tap on Edit and crop the image, keeping just the text area you would like to extract
3. Save the image
4. Tap on the saved text image and tap on the text icon beneath the picture
5. Tap Copy and paste it in Notes or your document
