All Samsung Air Purifiers come with a 4-Colour Light Indicator which automatically changes colour to reflect the quality of your air. With a glance, you'll know whether your air quality is good, moderate, unhealthy or bad.
The AX90, AX60, AX34 and AX40 models also come with an intuitive Numeric Air Quality Display, which allows you to see the exact levels of Gas Purity and Fine Dust Concentration in your air.

What does 'PM' stand for?
Note: The following conditions may cause temporarily high readings of PM level:
- When the product is used near fur rugs or used in veterinary clinics, clothing stores, or other places prone to high humidity, smoke or infestation.
- When humidifiers, electric pressure cookers, sprayers and such are being used in the same room.
- When the product is used where there is an inflow of outside air with dust or other types of air pollution (e.g. proximity to the building’s HVAC or ventilation systems, or loose window frames).
- Nearby electromagnetic waves or electrical noises may cause temporarily high readings of PM level.
PM stands for “Particulate Matter.” It’s a standard created by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and refers to the size of particles, measured in micrometers. The PM Concentration Level is an approximate measurement of how many particles of that size are in a cubic meter. There are three different PM sizes displayed on the Air Purifier. Here's what they stand for:
- PM10: Particles in the air that are about 1/5 of the diameter of a human hair.
- PM2.5: Particles in the air that are about 1/20 of the diameter of a human hair.
- PM1.0: Particles in the air that are about 1/50 of the diameter of a human hair.
* Diameter of a human hair: 50–70 ㎛
Although your air purifier will filter larger particles from the air, these are the only sizes that are measured, along with gas pollution*. PM levels displayed may differ from the official forecasts
When you want to know about the air quality in your home, you can check these different levels:
*Tested on the AX80K7580WFD for xylene, benzene, ethylbenzene, styrene & formaldehyde gases. The filter media has over 99.97% dust collection efficiency, based on a particle size of 0.26㎛, as specified by 42 CFR part 84. Anti-bacterial function tested on the filter media of the dust collecting filter. Tested in the National Test Institute of Korea.
Air Quality Levels
You can review the current air quality from the display panel with the colour (reflecting the PM10 / PM2.5 / PM1.0 / gas pollution) and the concentration level indicators.
- By default, the colour and PM10 / PM2.5 / PM1.0 level indicators reflect the PM10 concentration.
- Each time you press the Air quality button, the current state is displayed in the order of PM10 → PM2.5 → PM1.0.
The PM2.5 and PM1.0 levels are displayed for 10 seconds, before automatically changing to the PM10 level.
– The air quality will be ‘Very Poor’ when the PM2.5 / PM1.0 levels are worse than the PM10 level.
– If the concentration levels are same for all PM groups, the indicator will reflect the PM10 level. - PM10, PM2.5 and PM1.0 measurement will be displayed in numbers 05 – 999.

Fine Dust Concentration
The air quality indicator has four levels, from Blue – Good through to Red – Bad, to indicate the level of dust / gas within the air at a glance.
* Fine dust concentration is only available on models AX90, AX60, AX34 and AX40.
Please be advised that:
- The dust concentration may vary depending on the environmental conditions (for example, when the product is near a construction site, road, fabric sofa, when a vacuum cleaner is used or bedding and clothes are arranged near the product, etc.).
- The gas pollution reading can be affected by odorous household items such as air fresheners, deodorants and detergents.
- If you are using more than one air purifier in the same room, the dust concentration reading on each unit may not be the same as they affect air circulation. The dust concentration reading may vary depending on the sensor or product being used.
- If there is no change in the intensity of gas (odour), it may not be reflected in the gas pollution reading even though you can clearly smell it.
