Who can enter? (Eligibility criteria)Only candidates who are aged 14–17 for school track and 18–22 years for youth track as on May 31, 2024 of the competition can apply.
Individuals or teams of up to five people can apply for the challenge.
The concept should be original in terms of science and technology or should be a wholly new product with a social or economic consequence. Without any innovation, new business models may not make it to consideration.
The team/individual should not have previously obtained funds/awards for the identical proposal from any agency or through other competitions for more than INR Five Lakh. -
Can one participant participate in two different teams?No. In case a participant is found to be a part of two different teams, the application will be rejected. Please read the T&C of the competition carefully.

Which language should be used in the PowerPoint proposal?English and Hindi are accepted.

Can overseas students participate in the competition?This competition is open to Indian nationals residing in India only.

Will my idea be made public?If your proposal gets selected for further consideration, the issue description and other components will be published on our website, utilized as publicity materials by media partners, and presented at various phases of the program, including the final pitch event. Technical details will be confidential while IP filing is in progress.

How are ideas evaluated, and by whom?In the first round, applications will be screened basis their relevance to a social problem, technical feasibility, market potential, and team competence by subject matter experts from the "Foundation of Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT) - IIT Delhi." Your idea will fall under examination using the following criteria:
- • Significance of the problem statement & its impact on society
- • Proposed solution's novelty and viability
- • Qualifications of the group or individual
- • Plan for commercialization
Your ideas will be screened in the second and third rounds by a jury comprising industry veterans from Samsung. -
How will I know if I am successful?Following the initial entries in phase one, 100 shortlisted ideas/teams (50 teams each from school track and 50 teams from youth track) will be announced in June 2024. Samsung will directly communicate the results to the successful teams and on its website. Thereafter, for further shortlists, Samsung will announce the successful teams on the website as per competition milestones.

If I am shortlisted, are there specific dates I need to be available?You would need to attend all the competition milestone events and trainings as per the T&C of the competition. Every phase is an elimination phase and is mandatory for the participants in order to be considered for the next phase in the competition. Some key milestones are – online regional rounds, Innovation Walk including the National Pitch Event, and the Grand Finale.
The exact dates for these milestones will be communicated to the successful teams. -
What is the program structure?The program has 4 phases:
- Phase 1: In this phase, applications received on the website from all over India will go through experts' radar, who will then select Top 100 teams (50 teams from school track and 50 teams from youth track). This is a region based shortlist comprising of 10 teams of each region in each track. The website portal allows teams to check the status of their applications and the regions under which the application will be considered.
- Phase 2: In this phase, the 10 shortlisted teams of each track in each region will participate in their respective online regional pitch events/rounds. Basis the Regional Pitch events/Rounds, from each Track, two teams to be selected from each Region by a jury during the online pitch events/ rounds, resulting into total of 10 teams from each Track and the same will be announced as Top 20 Teams (10 teams in school track and 10 teams in youth track).
A total of 20 teams therefore, will be a part of Phase 3 of the Competition - Phase 3: These Top 20 teams (10 teams from school track and 10 teams from youth track) semi-finalist teams will get online advanced training as an orientation towards business activities, capturing their journey and the origin of their idea. Along with mentoring for proof-of-concept development, business plan, and essential soft skills required for becoming the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. There will also be a 5-day Innovation Walk at Samsung R&Ds, and on Day 5 of the Innovation Walk, each track team will pitch their ideas at the National Pitch Event at IIT Delhi to be among the Top 10 Finalist teams (5 teams from school track and 5 teams from youth track). This shortlist of Finalists will be on the basis of jury scoring for respective tracks.
- Phase 4: Top 10 teams (5 teams from school track and 5 teams from youth track) will undergo online prototyping class to refine their ideas for grand finale event wherein teams will pitch their ideas for one last time in front of the grand jury. There will be 1 winning team from school track and 1 winning team from youth track making them the winners of Solve for Tomorrow 2024.

What activities will be there during the Innovation Walk?Innovation Walk will be organized for 5 days for Top 20 teams (10 teams from school track and 10 teams from youth track). The Innovation Walk will comprise of visit to different Samsung offices wherein each day, the teams will get trainings from experts to identify how to direct their ideas and find a problem-solution fit. All participating teams will receive extensive training on design thinking and prototyping along with focussed interactions with Samsung leaders.

Who will bear the travel and accommodation cost for innovation walk?Samsung will help with your accommodation and travel expenses (Selected teams will receive all the details and guidelines). For participants below 18, Samsung will provide accommodation for a parent/guardian as well.

Will Samsung or FITT own my idea?No, you will be the sole owner of the concept and the intellectual property. The role of Samsung and FITT will be to assist you only in developing it.
