Make sure the panel is not locked

The most common cause for a panel not responding is that the lock is engaged. Every Samsung refrigerator has a lock of some sort, such as Child Lock, Control Lock, or Dispenser Lock.

1. For an SBS refrigerator model RS554NRUA**, press and hold the Child Lock button for three seconds to activate or deactivate it.

2. In a French Door refrigerator model RF858Q**/RFG**, press and hold the Lighting button for three seconds to activate or deactivate the Child Lock option.

Power cycle the refrigerator

For most models, this means unplugging the refrigerator or turning off the power at the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then restoring power.

In Family hub models, there is a switch for the panel that you should use instead, located at the inside top of the top-right door. Push open the small panel to find the switch inside. Click here to know the steps.
