● MAC addresses are most often assigned by the manufacturer of a Network interface controller (NIC) and are stored in its hardware, such as the card's read-only memory or some other firmware mechanism. There may be many MAC addresses for the same device depending on the numbe NICs that device supports.
For Example: A Samsung PC can have more than one MAC addresses since they can accomodate many NICs.While a Samsung Smartphone can have only one MAC address since only one NIC comes along with these devices.
