How to update the Samsung TV's firmware using a USB drive

It is very important to update your TV’s firmware to the latest version. You can update your TV through a USB drive or network, and even if neither method works, there is also a way to use Remote Management. Follow the guide below to update the TV firmware via a USB drive.
Keep the firmware up to date
There are some benefits that you can get when you update your TV’s firmware. First and foremost, it is able to add newly released features to your TV. Even if your TV is not the newest model, you can use the latest features through the firmware update. It can also fix various bugs. The new firmware may contain a solution to your problem.
Note: Most TVs will get updates that offer new features for about two years. Updates after that are generally for fixing issues.
How to update using a USB drive
If your TV is not connected to the Internet, it is a good idea to update your TV via a USB drive. For this, you will need a USB drive and a PC with an Internet connection. Try the following steps.

1 Turn on your TV and make sure it is connected to the Internet . Press the Menu button on your Samsung remote control and then select Settings.
2 Navigate to the Support tab and then select Software Update.
If the Software Update option is greyed out, please exit and change your TV source to Live TV, then return to Software Update.
3 Select Update Now.
4 The TV will begin to search for any available updates.
5 If there are any available updates for your TV, you will be asked if you would like to update now. Select Yes to proceed.
6 The new software will begin to download and install on to your TV. Once this has been completed, your TV will restart with the new software installed

Download and Update the TV with a USB
1 Head to the Support section of our website to find the Manuals and Software downloads link.
Please Note: Make sure to search your TV model at the Manuals and Software Downloads section of the country your TV was purchased from. You’re on the Samsung India website right now, where we only provide firmware downloads for products sold in India. You can get back to your country or regions homepage by clicking the India/English button at the very bottom right of this page, and selecting from the global options.
2 Select Television as your Product type, and search by the model number of your TV and click Select .
If your TV doesn't show up - please ensure you're on the applicable country or regional website.
3 Download the file Upgrade File(USB type) and save it to your desktop
4 Extract the downloaded .zip file. Make sure not to change the name of the folder
After downloading the Update file go to the folder it was downloaded to. The .zip file should look similar to this before extraction. After you have extracted the file, you will then have 2 folders. The .zip folder and also a folder with the same name that will have the extracted Update file in it.
5 Save the extracted folder to a USB flash drive.
Once the firmware update file is on the USB, the file path should be as follows: USB ROOT > T-KTSUABC (Firmware Name) > IMAGE > upgrade.msd
6 Turn the TV on, and plug the USB into the back of the TV or One Connect Box
7 Open the Settings of the TV and follow the appropriate menu path:
- 2020 Models - Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now
- 2019 Models - Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now
- 2018 Models - Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now
- 2017 Models - Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now
- 2016 Models - Settings > Support > Software Update > Update now
- 2015 Models - MENU > Support > Software Update > ENTER
- 2014 Models - Support > Software Update > Update now
8 You'll be prompted to allow the TV to search the USB drive for firmware updates. Select Yes to continue.
If the TV is not able to find the firmware update on the USB, ensure the firmware file has been unzipped.

Note:
- Do not turn off the TV, unplug the power, or pull out the USB drive during the update. It could cause a firmware error.
