What is Cinavia in Samsung Blu-Ray Players?
Cinavia is a type of DRM (Digital Rights Management) used to limit unauthorized uses of certain movies, TV shows, and any other professionally produced video. Movies that are released on Blu-ray Disc, DVD, or authorized downloads can carry different Cinavia audio watermarks, indicating that these movies are intended for use by consumers, but with limitations regarding whether or how they can be copied .
● Cinavia is also used in movie releases at theaters but the Cinavia audio watermark differs in that it indicates the release can only be duplicated by professional replicators and played back on professional projection equipment only.
● For example : if a camcorder is used to record a movie at a theater, the audio track from the movie will contain a Cinavia audio watermark that will prevent playback when the camcorder recording is burned to a disc and the disc is then played back on a Cinavia protected Blu-ray player or Blu-ray Home Theater System.
● Cinavia is a BDA (Blu-ray Disc Association) standard and its implementation began in 2009, it is now a requirement of all Commercial Blu-ray Players. Samsung Blu-ray players and Blu-ray Home Theater Systems produced in 2011 and 2012 support Cinavia.
