If the door to your Samsung front loader washing machine has locked, or the machine is showing an Unbalanced Load (Ub) error, you'll need to Emergency Drain the machine to get it going again. This process also covers cleaning the debris filter in the machine - which is a good thing to do every 2 months or so to make sure the machine doesn't have to work too hard to drain the water out. Follow the steps below on how to remove the water from a Samsung front loading washer.

Please Note:

Water drained during a high-temperature wash or drying cycle is hot. Do not touch the water. This may result in burns or injury.

This is an emergency procedure and it should be performed only when the washing machine is faulty, unable to drain the water through the normal washing cycle, and if technical assistance is not available for the next few days for whatever reason.

The best solution is to report the fault to Samsung Customer Care on 0800 726 786 and the technician assigned to do the job will perform this task.

Front Loader Emergency Drain Steps:

1 Turn the washer off and unplug the machine from the power supply at the wall.
2 Grab a towel and two large, flat containers to collect the water and place them all near the filter cover on the bottom of the machine.
3 Open the filter cover (A). You may need to use a key or coin to pry the cover open.
4 Slowly pull the emergency drain tube out while keeping the drain cap closed.
5 Open the emergency drain cap (C) by pulling it from the tube.

Please Note: There will be a lot of water - keep a second container handy to rotate out when filled.

6 When the water has drained completely, grab a cloth or towel and unscrew the debris filter cap (D) by turning it to the left (anti-clockwise).
7 Wash any dirt or other material from the debris filter. Make sure the drain pump inside the debris filter is not blocked.
8 Reinsert the pump filter, and turn the knob clockwise or to the right.
9 Reinsert the emergency drain cap and the drain tube, and close the filter cover.

If you are unable to locate the filter panel or this isn't the right description for your machine, please download the manual that is specific to your machine. You can download the user manual from our Manuals & Downloads page.
