Samsung Smart TV is already registered in SmartThings app
If you are adding your Samsung Smart TV to the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet and you see an error message stating that the device has already been registered in the app, you will not be able to add the TV to the app. You can use the steps in our guide to solve this issue.
If you are seeing an error message stating that your Samsung Smart TV has already been added to the SmartThings app, you can either request an invitation from the app's current owner, or change the current owner. Then, try adding your TV to SmartThings again.
Request an invitation from the app’s current owner
You can ask the SmartThings app’s current administrator to remove your TV from the app. Or, you can ask your administrator to invite you to use the app, so that you can control the TV together.
Note: Only app administrators can invite members.
Change the current owner
You can become an administrator and register your TV in the SmartThings app. Select Make me the owner; this will appear if your TV is already registered to another SmartThings account and if your TV is not connected to a network. Follow the steps below to change your TV’s administrator to yourself and register your TV.
Note: Depending on the TV model, the method of accessing the Network Status menu may differ. For instance, you may need to select Settings, then select General, and then select Network to access the Network Status menu.
Note: If you do not see an option that states “Make me the owner,” or if this option does not work, please contact us by sending an error report through SmartThings. In SmartThings, tap Menu, and then tap Contact us. Tap Error reports under Send feedback, and then follow the prompts to compose and send your message.
